Martina is a passionate street photographer from post-communist Bulgaria, whose journey began with a humble point-and-shoot Kodak in fifth grade. What started as childlike curiosity slowly faded in her twenties, when other interests took over and her cameras started gathering dust.
Everything changed in 2022, when her partner gifted her a new camera and encouraged her to see the world through the lens once more. At 33, Martina returned to photography with renewed purpose, immersing herself in the unpredictable rhythm of street life.
What was once unfamiliar territory has become her safe harbor. Street photography not only reignited her creativity but also deepened her connection to Sofia, the city she calls home. Capturing the vibrancy of everyday life has helped her reconnect with herself and others. She tends to get close to her subjects, drawn by human interaction and the energy of the streets, always striving to capture candid, authentic moments.
